If your goal is to get a job making ads, do not put Wonderbra ads in your portfolio

The worst WonderBra ad I've ever seen.

And I've seen mounds of them, both online, and in portfolios sent to our agency. Apparently, the straw is extra long because the tits are extra big? Which logistically makes zero sense. Other interpretations welcome. This is by some ad student at DMJX in Copenhagen. Students? If your goal is to get a job making ads, do not put Wonderbra ads in your portfolio. Nor condom ads. Nor Viagra ads.

TBWA's "Hello Boys" billboard for Wonderbra has been voted the best poster ad ever created, in Campaign's Outdoor Hall of Fame, held in association with the Outdoor Media Centre.

In second place was Saatchi & Saatchi's "Labour Isn't Working" poster for the Conservative Party from the 1970s.

The iconic 1914 army recruitment poster "Lord Kitchener Wants You", by Caxton Advertising, took third place, ahead of a top 10 that also features work for Apple by TBWA and for The Economist by AMV.

The 100 posters and the top 10 can be seen on the Outdoor Hall of Fame microsite.

The ads were chosen after more than 10,000 reader votes on a selection of 100 ads, which had been shortlisted by a panel of judges.

The judges were Danny Brooke-Taylor, the Dare joint executive creative director; Daren Rubins, the PHD chief executive; Bob Wootton, the ISBA director of media and advertising; Mike Baker, the chief executive of the Outdoor Media Centre, and Claire Beale, the editor of Campaign.

When I saw this, I immediately thought of Eva Herzigova’s legendary ‘Hello Boys’ ad campaign for Wonderbra

As PR jobs go, this has got to be one of the best out there at the moment. Yeah, yeah. I know what you’re thinking. You’d be wrong.I’m going to cite the well-known ‘Playboy Defence’ here: I didn’t rate this for the pictures, it’s all about the content. Honest.

Of course. the image of a willowy model in her undercrackers was what stopped me. Particularly in the po-faced job pages of PR Week.

When I saw this, I immediately thought of Eva Herzigova’s legendary ‘Hello Boys’ ad campaign for Wonderbra – and just about anything PR-wise from Scottish entrepreneur, Michelle Mone. And therein is the real gold, from a public relations point of view. Some ambitious, young PR go-getter is about to be handed a gilt-edged opportunity to run amok in the coverage equivalent of fields of clover.
