‘The Tadpole’ Triumphs in Triathlon Tester

http://www.kdmevents.co.uk/latest-events/

Inspired by watching her son Brad take part in last year’s London Triathlon our Director Kathy decided she could not be outdone. Off down the shops, for a wet suit and bike (she already has 63 pairs of trainers) and training began.

‘Oh yeah’, we said. We were wrong. The usual running regime had biking and swimming added and the tempo increased as the big day approached.

Off to Excel last weekend with 14,999 other competitors for the world’s largest Triathlon and whilst she did look a wee bit nervous a little shopping was squeezed into the morning’s preparation.

Supported by husband Kevin – from the rigours of the beer tent – a 750m swim in St Katherine’s Dock was followed by 20 km on the bike and a 5 km road run resulting in the tremendous time of 1 hour 55 mins.

… and ‘The Tadpole’? – have you seen the picture?

Boris the Baby Bat Bombs in on the KDM Team

Wikipedia tells us that bats are the only mammals naturally capable of true and sustained flight – but Boris the baby Bat would beg to differ; flying doesn’t come naturally to him at all

He landed on the floor of the M D’s office at KDM’s head office in Trentham sometime on Wednesday night and was found awaiting rescue on Thursday morning by Kevin.

Boris – named following a pretty biased vote comprising a fully inclusive electorate of Accounts Supremo Maria and no-one else – spent the next few hours in a makeshift bat house, carefully constructed by the ever thoughtful Maria.

He found comfort in a duster and sipped from a tea spoon until the whole team had to say our final goodbyes when Suzanne, a Bat Carer with the Bat Conservation Society flew in to take him to the Bat Hospital where he will be fed on bugs, taught to fly and be cared for until he is fighting fit when he will be returned to Trentham to play once again with his Bat Mates.

While Boris is recovering, plans for his return are already in motion, as corporate entertainment experts we can’t resist the opportunity to plan a welcome home party – the Bat Man, Robin and Bat Lady costumes are on order, the champagne is on ice … Gotham City here we come!
